Expert Facilitator

Michael has many years of experience instructing and cross-examining expert witnesses in building, infrastructure, and Water Act disputes. Michael has worked with building consultants, civil and structural engineers, quantity surveyors, delay experts, hydrologists, and valuers. In doing so, Michael appreciates that an expert report is only as good as the facts on which the opinion is based. He is also firmly of the view that technical jargon and obscure phrasing do not assist experts in performing their ultimate obligation to assist the decision maker to understand the opinion and determine the dispute.

With this in mind, Michael is skilled in working with experts to produce joint reports that identify areas of agreement and draw out the areas of dispute, including the basis of that dispute, for resolution by the trier of fact.
